Hello Everyone!
Greetings in the name of God and
we gladly hope your all doing fine. Welcome back to yet another episode of our
Newsletter with Real news from Real Stars. We praise God for a great
opportunity He has given to us to share His mighty deeds and wonders that He
has done for us. This is the year of the Lord and He has great plans for each
one of us so we should continue exalting His Mighty name.
This year began with
a bang’ and we saw the hand of God in our work. First of all most of our
children got sponsors and we were able to take them to boarding school. This
has really changed them because they are in a different environment where they
can concentrate with their studies. Secondly we had seven of our children who
cleared grade eight with encouraging marks. One of them was called in a
National school (Precious Blood Riruta), four in provincial schools while the
other two who performed fairly were called in good district school. This brought great joy in our lives
to see the children prospering in their education. In the High school level, we
have three of our children who cleared while in University/College there are
two children who graduated while one more will be graduating by the end of this
year. We rejoice with them because we have seen them growing up to this far and
have transformed positively in their lives.
Our
activities this year
Cecilia, second from left, is six
years old and lives in Lunga Lunga slum
with her father. Her
mother passed away in August 2012 due to throat cancer thus
living five children behind. At that time Cecilia was three years old. She is
currently in Pre-unit and the third born in a family of five children. Her
father works as a watchman and this is difficult for him because he is the
breadwinner of the family and also the only parent in the house. He has to take
care of his children.
Clyde Muhambe Lisimba
Clyde Muhambe is one of our
children who cleared class eight in the year 2012. He attained 335 marks and
was called in a Provincial School. This is very great because he is from a poor
back ground and the second born in his family. He is a very hardworking boy.
His father is HIV positive and also has a stroke on one side of his body. He
also has a brain tumor which makes it hard for him to work. Clyde’s mother
passed away in the year 2009 when Clyde was eleven years old. She was HIV
positive too. Clyde likes playing football and he thanks God for he was able to
perform well and got a chance to study in high school.
Maureen Akinyi
Maureen is a fifteen year old
girl that lives in Embakasi in Nairobi with her maternal uncle. She Cleared her
grade eight level in the year 2012. She attained 308 marks and was called to a
provincial school. She is the last born child in a family of three children.
She has never met her father so she and her siblings were raised by their
mother who unfortunately passed away in 2003. They first went to live in
upcountry with their grandfather before their maternal uncle took them under
his care in 2006. This is due to financial constraints on the side of their
grandfather. Maureen’s uncle sells second hand clothes so as to earn some money
and take her and her siblings to school. Whenever he was unable to cater for
the school fees he would approach the well wishers to assist him to cater for
it.
